New EVW Features

Written by Sara on November 6, 2009 – 4:39 pm -

Happy Friday, everyone – I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead of you.

Readers, I’m very excited to reveal a new blog schedule to you! I finally have settled on a schedule that allows me to post regularly (five days per week!), and I feel anxious to bring interesting vendors and topics to you.

From now on, you can look forward to the following features each week:

Monday: Green Post Monday (I will feature a site, a product, a class, an eco-friendly practice/habit/action, a company, etc.)
Tuesday: Our Wedding Update
Wednesday: Project Wednesday [I will feature a step-by-step DIY project one or two times per month] OR Showcase Wednesday (I will feature the talents of local photographers and the efforts of newlyweds to make their weddings unique and elegant; I will also feature an Etsy find from time to time.)
Thursday: Our Wedding Update
Friday: Green Post Friday (I will again feature a site, a product, a class, an eco-friendly practice/habit/action, a company, etc.)
I plan to kick this schedule off next week with a wonderful introduction to a vendor who’s making green weddings super chic. See you all then!

Happy Tuesday, readers!

I wanted to call your attention to a WONDERFUL resource for all of you eco-conscious “green” brides out there. After all, my blog is devoted to weddings of two sorts: eco-friendly weddings and vintage-inspired weddings. Sometimes they intersect (as J and I hope to create for our big day), but today, the focus is all on you eco-conscious couples!

Dream Green Weddings exists as a one-stop shop for brides looking for everything from eco-friendly/handmade wedding favors (seriously, you have to check out these tree favors; I would LOVE to give these away to our guests!) to wedding invitations made from recycled materials. And, get this, budget-conscious brides: favors start at just $0.99 cents! I know that you can’t find something as beautiful and environmentally conscious at such a low price anywhere else.

But, Dream Green Weddings goes one step further and provides each vendor’s “Eco-Commitment/Social Responsibility” pledge right on the product page, so brides don’t have to wonder if the companies they’re supporting are doing business ethically and responsibly. (Click here for Dream Green Weddings’ own vow to support eco-friendly commerce.)

Dream Green Weddings also has a Green Wedding Eco-Blog that is literally full of inspiration for eco-conscious, budget-savvy brides. This post on green wedding garters has me drooling! And this post on cute little chapels in the Great Smoky Mountains has me begging J for a destination wedding; how cute are these eco-friendly churches!

The best part about Heather, blogger extraordinaire, is this simple statement on the Dream Green Weddings Eco-Blog:

By making just a few earth-friendly choices, you can lessen the environmental footprint of your special day and truly make a difference.

That’s EXACTLY the mindset that I had in starting my own blog. Why wouldn’t brides want to reduce our impact on the environment by making smarter choices in what we purchase for our wedding day? That’s why the vintage-inspired theme is so wonderful, because it allows me to go thrift-store and flea-market diving with my girls, because it allows me to utilize my mother’s birdhouse collection as centerpieces, and because vintage-inspired literally means “old,” reducing my need to purchase all things new!

Thanks to Heather at Dream Green Weddings for sharing her site with me; go visit the eco-friendly favors shop, and check out her fair trade jewelry…AMAZING stuff.

Have a wonderful day, readers! More to come from me this week.
